The people close to me in my life will tell you I’ve been a bit of a party-pooper. Sure, they may sugar-coat it, but it’s true. Life happens, and although I love our clients, I care deeply about their success and my team…it can be a struggle to find energy and momentum. And by the end of the day, I’m totally spent.
If you have been (or plan on being) an entrepreneur for a long time, this dip is inevitable because life happens. I shared this with my coach who asked me the usual questions like if I’m eating right, getting sleep, and spending time with friends. YES to all of that.
He suggested some more specific tactics for staying motivated and energized for business owners:
🍋 Wins Board. My coach insisted I create a board or put up sticky notes every time I had a win this month, big or small, and place it somewhere that is always in my eyesight.
🍋 Power Hour. My coach hooked me up with someone on his team to connect with once a week. We get on Zoom and share our plans for the hour to move the needle. Then, we work on mute and give each other an update and a digital high-five after the end of the hour.
🍋 Co-Working. I need to find a co-working group for once a week. I get out a ton, but it often turns to personal connections and updates. I need to be with peers where we’ll get inspired, educated, and connected, and the convo won’t slide into personal updates the whole time. This makes sense because I have a lot of meetings, just not in a space with my peers where we’re sharing while we work.
🍋 Keep Meeting With My Coach. I can’t be too negative in front of a very successful coach. He leaves me with a ton of new things to do and try, and it definitely helps with having personal issues bleed into the work I’m doing.
Lulls like this are like injuries. You won’t heal yourself from one physio appointment or one week of eating well. It takes dozens of tiny changes that you stick to for a long period of time, but I do see some improvements already.
What would you add to this list to stay energized, productive, and positive?
